Best of the Triangle

As a Durham native and avid explorer, I have a lot of tried & true local places to recommend:

    • M Sushi - incredible quality and creative dishes

    • Delancey Tavern - wide selection of dishes, lovely staff, vintage furniture and delish home made sauces

    • Noodle 501 - best Thai Food in town (seconded by my husband who lived in Thailand for 10 years)

    • Gocciolina - local spot with home made pasta and great pricing

    • Juju - creative dishes, fun vibe and lot of vegetarian selections as well

    • Rue Cler - favorite French Food in town and wonderful staff!

    • The Boot Room — my favorite BLT in town, and their homemade ranch with chips is amazing. Also a really fun trivia night. ** Kristy our lead stager seconds this!

    • Monuts — an obvious go-to. Don't miss the cinnamon bun, the rice krispie treat with brown butter, or the chicken salad sandwich.

    • Nikos — I love it there so much. My hot tip is to order a bunch of small plates instead of the entrees, the share plates really shine. Dollar for dollar, the desserts are so well made and well priced.

    • Don Gallo - super casual & has the best shrimp taco in town

    • Delafia — A cozy natural wine bar tucked into the edge of downtown, with a great by-the-glass list and a relaxed, come-as-you-are vibe. They also do great pop ups with local chefs and food trucks.

    • Soif — Tiny and intimate, coffee by day and cocktails by night. A perfect spot for an early night out.

    • Seraphine — Moody and sultry, with excellent Cajun-Creole food and cocktails to match.

    • Surf Club — A local and lovely spot for early evening into the night, easygoing and unpretentious.

    • Conniption Bar & Lounge (formerly Corpse Reviver) — My favorite for a well crafted cocktail, tucked behind Durham Distillery.

    • Sol House Wines — I love that you can order food and eat there when you drink, or bring your own takeout.

    • The Federal — Been around forever, and it's still great bar food and a Durham staple.

    • Bar Virgile - Kristy loves this spot for their incredible bar tenders, epic burgers and relaxed vibes.

    • MODE Consignment Boutique

    • Casa Bella Market

    • The Scrap Exchange (secondhand and thrifted finds, also great for donations)

    • Common Market (deli, bottle shop, and general good vibes)

    • Namu — Great easy menu, and my favorite N/A drink in town is their Yuzu Sparkling Cold Drink.

    • Guglhupf — Lovely upstairs that's quieter, good WiFi, and great coffee, snacks, and food too.

    • The Durham Hotel — You can always count on it being open. I love how it looks and feels in there, all the windows and colors. Their Cobb Salad is my favorite around here.

    • Hops & Flower - One of my favorite recent additions to the neighborhood. Part deli, part bodega, and the veggie sandwich has become a go to for me. I also love that they run a no tipping policy.

  • Where I get my hair cut, and I've heard the color work is just as good. It has a Brooklyn feel that I love. Owner Katie Manselle has had an incredible career all over the world, and her team is wonderfully diverse.

  • Scrap Exchange Annex and Thrift Shop - great for donations and also shopping for your self and your kids.

    They also have a locally stocked Food Pantry in front where you can donate items to the community.
